How It’s Installed

The process starts the same as any concrete pour: forming, base prep, and placing the concrete. While it’s still plastic, we press in the stamp pattern, then apply color and any accent work before it sets.

Once it’s cured enough to handle foot traffic, we seal the surface to lock in the color and texture. Timing matters at every step. Since stamping and coloring both happen on a tight window before the concrete sets up.

Sealing, Maintenance & Common Problems

Sealing protects both the color and the texture. It also needs to be reapplied every few years, depending on sun and foot traffic exposure. Without it, stamped concrete is more prone to fading, a worn or peeling sealer coat, and staining.

Cracking at control joints can happen the same way it does on plain concrete, though it’s less noticeable when it follows the pattern lines. Most surface issues can be patched or re-stamped in place rather than requiring a full replacement.

Stamped vs. Plain Concrete

Stamped concrete costs more upfront than plain concrete because of the added labor for stamping, coloring, and sealing. Pattern complexity and the size of the area both affect that cost.
